Renaissance de l’art du pibroc’h à la harpe
Violaine Mayor renoue le fil d’une tradition longtemps interrompue, celle de la grande musique à la harpe celtique (telenn en breton, clarsach en gaélique). Dans ce disque, elle réunit le système musical antique de la harpe celtique, retrouvé sur les manuscrits historiques, et l'enseignement oral du pibroc'h, transmis par les sonneurs de cornemuse écossaise.
Les deux instruments partagèrent pendant des siècles un répertoire commun de grande musique. La tradition de harpe a été interrompue par les vicissitudes de l’histoire il y a plus de deux cents ans, mais la cornemuse a transmis jusqu’à nous ce précieux héritage.
La harpe à cordes de bronze est le seul support physique connu en occident sur lequel a pu se théoriser le système musical savant aux fondements du piobaireachd (prononcé approximativement pibroc’h), l’« art de la cornemuse ».

Bringing back to life the art of pibroch on the harp 
Violaine Mayor brings back to life the long interrupted tradition of (the) Celtic high music (ceol mor) on the harp (telenn in Breton, clarsach in Gaelic). In this recording, she reconnects the ancient Celtic harp music system found in historical manuscripts and the oral teaching of pibroch, passed down by Scottish bagpipers.
For centuries, the two instruments, harp and bagpipe, shared a common repertory of ceol mor. Over two hundred years ago, the harp tradition was broken by the course of history, but this precious heritage was handed on by Scottish bagpipers.
The wire strung harp is the only physical artefact known in the West which made possible the theorization of the learned musical system at the foundation of piobaireachd (pronounced approximately pibroch, meaning « the art of bagpipe playing»).
By restoring pibroch music on an accurate historical harp replica, Violaine Mayor brings back to light a major part of our Celtic heritage, which complements the music played on the pipes.
Violaine reveals a timeless music, full of tenderness and harmony, universal, crystalline and  hypnotic, which recalls (the) natural elements, works deeply on emotions, soothes and uplifts the soul.
This re-birth was made possible by the singing tradition known as canntaireachd, used to pass on the knowledge of pibroch, and by the generosity of tradition bearers.
